[quoting Padgett, 21 Feb 96.a] This doesn't particularly make sense to me. Of course people make meaning, make truths.
There are basically two notions of truth: realist and rationalist. Realists say truth is (roughly) correspondence to the world. Rationalists say truth is (roughly) internal coherence of ideas. You are a rationalist, because you believe that people make truths. You can say "Tripp doesn't make sense to me," but you cannot say "Tripp is wrong." I am a realist. I can say you are wrong, without fear of contradiction.
