A good interchange of ideas. The nature of interactions and the means by which they can enhance the communication of content is, of course, critical to the success of Computer Assisted Learning, Interactive Multimedia, etc. Perhaps the importance of the debate is that we often forget that the educational role is one of transfer; generalization; and acquisition of knowledge, skills, etc. Too often we focus on the technology as a means by which this happens, rather than simply the medium of transmission. Perhaps its time to revisit the roots of our field and reassess the theoretical underpinnings--perhaps some answers are already there?
