I am a newcomer to the forum, but I have enjoyed the banter about Steve Tripp's little study (in the context of things). Who would have guessed it would have generated dialog ranging from Skinner to Chomsky; Constructivism to Quantum theory. Who would have guessed that proving Clark wrong would generate the time and activity that it took to type all the replies, criticisms, comments, etc. I am truly impressed with the power of the Internet. I think I got to know some of my colleagues better. One nagging question though, who addressed the issue of how Steve's finding leads us to the optimization of instruction in that medium, or do all differences disappear when you give examples, provide learning guidance, and practice. Does the design of instruction obviate the intrinsic differences (unique variance) among the media? Most of the research I have seen would indicate so. Thanks for the journey.
