[referring to Sturgess, 5 Mar 97.a] I appreciate your comments. I'm a graduate student in ID at Western Illinois University. I provide technical support for a school district in a suburban setting in central Illinois. The school district provides in-service training to help their teachers become familiar with the technology bombarding the school setting. There is a wide gap between different teachers, some are threatened and others embrace using computers, E-mail, Internet and CD tutorials.
Most teachers in the district are trying to introduce and incorporate new technology to enrich their students classroom experience. Many are frustrated due to lack of resources and time to prepare for incorporating these new mediums into their lesson plans. I still believe the bottom line is a child will learn when he or she is willing to be taught. As instructional designers, we need to make our lessons interesting, effective, efficient and explain the value for acquiring the desired outcome of our instructional endeavor.
