I have some ideas how one can evaluate qualitatively the perceptions of students to transactions. Based on the constructivist philosophy of George Kelly, group techniques can be used to set up semantic grids with traits that describe the qualities (good and bad experiences, perceptions, and responses) that the recipients expect to get from transactions. Once exposed to the transaction, they can each evaluate their own responses to it in terms that the whole group considered to be meaningful and relevant. This is a qualitative/quantitative technique that has been shown to work in many parallel evaluative situations, with response profiles for groups remaining valid, meaningful and repeatable over time extending into years.
