As a grad student, again at 52, I think that the problem with Qualitative research is two fold. One, most of us has had quantitative shoved down our throats as THE ONLY WAY for 20+ years. There simply aren't many that really understand qualitative. Two, those that DO understand it don't teach it, or worse, allow students to do get away with sloppy work. I still have nightmares with my major Professor glaring at me while softly killing me with the word "trash!" Without him I hate to think of the stuff I'd be doing.
