Well, I have to say that I really enjoyed Brenda's paper. Being a professor of Instructional Design , I could really see both the basic problems she mentions in teaching ID and the promise of action learning as a solution.
The thing that MOST impressed me about the paper was the description of the Immersion Design Group program at George Mason. That really blew me away! I think the immersion concept is obviously the wave of the future and I think the GMU program could really serve as a model for other programs.
I wonder if Brenda could tell us how the immersion program has gone over with the students.....do they see the "big picture" benefits of the program or is it just another class to them? Do the students feel they are doing a lot more work? Also, what about the faculty, how does the immersion program change their job?
